Food and Lodging Near the South Holston River
2. Webb's Store
3267 Rock Hold Rd
Bluff City, TN 37618

Often called Webb's Grocery, this rustic eclectic establishment is a great place to have lunch as it is located only minutes from the river and the food is delicious. Half the store is a modest country grocery with soft drinks, snacks, canned foods, dry goods, etc. The other half is a diner with a few tables and seating at the bar. The owner/chef Mark Price is well known by the locals and fishermen as a fantastic cook. I usually call in an order for sandwiches when I am floating the river. It's convenient and fresh. If you are wading, a hot meat-and-three on a chilly day can recharge your batteries nicely. Buy a t-shirt and don't forget the ice.

The Watauga River Lodge is located on the banks of the Watauga river in the trophy section about 25 minutes from the South Holston. The rooms and cabins are only available to clients using their guide service so you will be with fishermen. I have stayed at the Lodge quite a few times and can vouch for the lodge comfort and the quality of the guides. When staying at the Lodge, you and your guide will decide which river (SoHo,Watauga or other) you want to float depending on river conditions and release schedules. The guides all have nice drift boats and will put you on the fish.

With a very convenient location 2 minutes from good wading access, tasty and quickly prepared food, drinks, ice, gasoline and fishing licenses, this may be the only destination you need in your navigation unit. The people here are very nice and don't mind your waders. When I appologized for tracking in a bit of water, the nice lady behind the counter said "Don't worry 'bout that. About all we serve here is fishermen and farmers!" I have had nothing but good experiences here.
